Safety Representative

Hourly Rate: $32.00 – $34.00

Employment Classification: Non-Exempt

Department: Administration

Reports to: Office Manager/Controller

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Objective: The Safety Coordinator inspects the work areas and work procedures. Makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Coordinates and maintains company policies adhering to local, state organize and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Being an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator ensures compliance.

 

Coordinates procedures to ensure organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and safety compliance.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Completes New hire Safety training.

Update and develop new training material.

 

Completes New Hire Forklift and Ariel Lift Training:

  • Perform both practical and classroom trainings.

  • Track expirations and provide refresher trainings.

Stay up to date on new OSHA regulations and industry trends

  • Updating all safety plans annually.

  • Notify all employees on safety policy changes.

 

Develop, disperse, and track weekly toolbox talks for all employees.

 

On site representative for SMI when safety personnel are requested at job sites a. Includes project start and intermittent safety meetings.

  • Hot work permits, confined space monitor etc.

  • Job Safety Audits; create or oversee creation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for contracted projects.

  • Provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used on corresponding projects.

 

Safety Data Sheets

  • Maintain master SDS directory.

  • Manage Chemical cabinets (expirations, SDS list etc.)

  • Update SDS in all trucks annually

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Protection Equipment

  • Provide proper PPE to employees.

  • Train employees on proper PPE and enforce policy.

 

Shop Safety

  • Ensure SMI shops are clean, tidy, free of hazards, and in compliance with OSHA standards.

  • Monthly inspections of fire extinguishers

 

OSHA and MSHA Record Keeping

  • OSHA logs and quarterly reports

  • MSHA quarterly reports

 

Manage Safe Driving Program

  • Populate quarterly reports on safe driving style and offer correction, when necessary

  • Conduct vehicle inspections of company vehicles semiannually

 

Equipment Maintenance

Manage the maintenance of field equipment and machinery to ensure safe operation.

 

Function as point person on all injuries and vehicle collisions

 

Provide safety progress reports to upper management

 

*Critical Responsibility* - Safety Representative for all larger customers who have elevated safety standards and require the utilization of a contractor management.

system (i.e., Meyer Burger, Rauch, Constellation, FCL etc.)

 

Provide JHAs based on job scope and site walk. Create site specific safety plans.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years’ experience in a comparable position.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and ability to learn industry software.

  • Valid California drivers’ license with a record acceptable to the Company’s insurance

Journeyman Industrial/Commercial Electrician

Hourly Rate: $38.00 - $45.00

Description

The Journeyman Electrician will perform installation, service, and maintain electrical wiring systems and equipment; and to do related work as required:

  • Plan layout and install electrical wiring, piping, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.

  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, control devices, PLC’s, or other components.

  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.

  • Ability to interpret control schematics and perform wiring of control components.

  • Ability to create control schematics.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex control issues.

  • Ensure operating in compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.

  • Occasional travel as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 5 year’s experience as an electrician.

  • Must possess a valid and current DIR card, Certified General Electrician.

  • Must be able to work on-call (weekly rotating schedules).

  • Safely Operate a forklift, boom & scissor lift.

  • Contingent on successful drug test and background.
